My First Multi-Op Experience at the CQ WW SSB Contest at TC2E Station
The CQ WW SSB Contest is one of the most prestigious events in the amateur radio world, and this year, it marked a milestone for me. It was my first time participating as part of a multi-operator team, and the experience was an excellent opportunity to truly feel the spirit of amateur radio. We gathered at TA2FE Emin’s station in Izmit under the call sign TC2E, and it turned into an unforgettable weekend.

The Station and Equipment Used
TA2FE’s station felt like a combination of a Collins museum and an amateur radio showcase. From the moment we entered, we were captivated by both vintage and modern radio equipment. During the contest, we used the following gear:
- Transceiver: Icom IC-9100, with its precise receiver and user-friendly interface, was fantastic.
- Antenna: Hexbeam, which provided wide-band support and allowed us to successfully receive and transmit DX signals.
- Output Power: Around 400W, which played a crucial role in reaching distant locations.

The Team Spirit and Participants
Our team was large and experienced, consisting of:
- TA2TEO Teoman, TA7YLY Merzuke, TA7H Furkan, TA2IB Ömer, TA2FE Emin, TA1SOR Orkun, TA2BFE Bora
Working with these individuals made it easy to keep pace with the contest’s demands. With each team member handling specific duties, we were able to maintain order and efficiency at the station.

The Contest Spirit
CQ WW SSB is a major event that brings the amateur radio community together. Throughout the contest, communicating with amateur radio operators from all over the world not only enhanced our technical knowledge but also improved our practical skills. Particularly in the multi-op format, it became clear how important teamwork is and how critical it is to fully utilize the potential of the station.
Experiences and Takeaways
This contest helped me realize how vast the world of amateur radio is, and how the human factor plays just as much of a role as the technical aspects. Working at a well-equipped station like TC2E taught me the importance of mastering technical details while also appreciating the value of effective teamwork.

In conclusion, this contest was not just a competition, but a celebration of the amateur radio spirit. If you’re considering participating in such an event, don’t hesitate. The connections made with operators around the world and the memories shared with your teammates are well worth every effort.
